Service Partners: Publisher Guide

What is a Service Partner?

Service Partners offer tools and technologies to publishers to help them generate more sales for their advertisers. In return, the publishers share part of their commission with those Service Partners.

Some typical Service Partner tools and technologies include:

  • e-commerce platforms
  • price comparison widgets
  • shopping widgets
  • shopping cart technologies
  • AI based image recognition
  • product recommendations
  • other conversion tools

Our Service Partners are chosen based on the quality, value and trustworthiness of their solutions, which are designed to help boost publisher conversions.

Identifying Awin Service Partners

Service Partners are Awin publishers which you can find by going using the AWIn UI navigation to go to Toolbox > Service Partner Directory.

If you want to work with a specific Service Partner, you can express your interest directly by clicking Apply to this Service Partner from their profile.

You can then contact that Service Partner directly and establish specific terms of the agreement, like the percentage of commission shared. Based on that, the Service Partner will set up a commission-sharing rule for your collaboration.

Commission Sharing

Service Partners offer conversion technologies to publishers, and then the publishers share a percentage of their commissions with the Service Partner for the sales they helped to generate. The commission sharing is organised through the commission sharing tool on the Awin UI.

How does Commission Sharing work?

Once the Service Partner creates a commission sharing rule for your collaboration, you will automatically have a membership with the advertisers that the Service Partner is collaborating with.

You will have to add a specific parameter in Awin tracking links in order to be able to easily identify transactions generated via the Service Partner widgets and share the commission accordingly.

What do Tracking Links look like?

The tracking link will include the 'networkref2' parameter. The value of the network2 will be provided to you by the Service Partner, this will be the ID of the rule created to establish the commission sharing split as part of the collaboration between your publisher account and the Service Partner.

Example of tracking links including the 'networkref2' parameter:

Calculating Commission for Commission-Shared Transactions

The total value of the commission is calculated based on the commission rates that the Service Partner has agreed with the advertiser.

The commission is then split based on the percentage share agreed between your publisher account and the Service Partner.

As a publisher, you are able to track all transactions that you generate through our reporting section. We have a wide variety of reports to see different data relating to the transactions generated.

Commission-Sharing Information

You can see all the transactions that you generate. They will appear in your report as regular transactions. In the transactions report, they'll also have a Service Partner icon in the commission column.

Transaction Export

In the Transaction Report export, you can view more detailed information on all your transactions including commission-sharing transactions, which are easy to spot because they'll contain the Service Partner's name and account ID.

  • commission_sharing_publisher: The name of the Service Partner that you are sharing the commission with
  • commission_sharing_publisher_id: The account ID of the Service Partner that you are sharing the commission

Example commission sharing transaction in an export:

Q: Reporting: How are commission shared transactions visible to both you and the advertiser?

A: This question refers to Performance Reports/aggregated reports. Please see more information in the reporting section.

The advertiser will see:

  • Normal sales for the publisher (with the part of commission the publisher gets).
  • Bonus transactions for the service partner (with the part of commission the service partner gets).

Q: Whose commission template is leading in commission sharing?

A: Service Partner commission rates

Q: Does commission sharing work with Advertiser Offline Tracking?

A: NO, this feature is not available for advertisers that use offline tracking.

Q: What happens if a Service Partner I work with is suspended by an advertiser?

A: The Service Partner no longer has an active partnership with that advertiser, but you will still have partnerships with that advertiser. If you continue generating sales for that advertiser, you will receive a commission calculated based on the commission rate they assigned you.
