ITP Compensation Payments FAQ

1. My EPC has dropped with the start of ITP 2.0, why don`t I receive ITP 2.0 compensations?

ITP compensation only refers to EPC from clicks generated within the Safari browser. If your EPC from other browsers is down then this is unrelated to ITP. The EPC of both Safari 11 & lower and Safari 12 & higher transactions is calculated and, if the Safari 12 EPC is lower for a non-compliant advertiser then you are eligible to receive compensation.

2. The first release of ITP 2.0 was in September 2018 – why has Awin not started earlier with ITP 2.0 compensations?

The compensation payments are backdated to February when ITP 2.1 was released and the effect on tracking more profound. It was also important to ensure that advertisers had reasonable time to upgrade tracking to ensure compliance with ITP.

3. How can I identify compensation in the reports?

The Transactions Report can now be filtered by ‘Compensation’ under ‘Transaction Type’. Further information can be found in the export under ‘Click Ref 1’. In your other reports, compensation transactions will be aggregated in to the Bonus totals.

4. How are you calculating the compensations?

To calculate ITP compensation, the following data is required: • EPC of the specific advertiser for clicks generated by Safari 11 and lower (S11EPC) • EPC of the specific advertiser for clicks generated by Safari 12 and higher (S12EPC) • Number of publisher generated Safari 12 and higher clicks with the specific advertiser (S12Clicks) • The specific advertiser’s approval rate (AR)

The formula we use to calculate compensation:

(S11EPC – S12EPC) x S12Clicks x AR

If the result of S11EPC – S12EPC is a negative then no commission is paid. There is a hierarchy of approval rates to use. An alternative is used if the approval rate is either 0 or 100%. Order of approval rates used:

Advertiser’s approval rate Sub-industry approval rate Industry approval rate Network approval rate

5. Is it possible to see the calculations on an advertiser level?

Only the Transactions Report can be filtered for compensation payments. However, the same report can also be filtered by advertiser(s) and exported to Excel for further filtering. 'Click Ref 1' contains the data used in the specific transaction.

6. I was receiving compensation for a certain advertiser – but it seems that this has stopped? I can’t find them anymore in my statistics! What's happened?

If you had been receiving compensation payments for an advertiser and this has now stopped then the advertiser is most probably ITP compliant. Another instance would be that, due to the calculation, the EPC of Safari 12 and higher clicks was greater than EPC of Safari 11 and lower clicks and as such no compensation is paid.

7. How can I identify if I´m eligible/qualified for ITP compensation?

All publishers who work with advertisers that do not have compliant tracking are eligible for a refund.
